With a little air of sentimentality i'm adding this video.
It was sad news that another of the great Bee Gee trio has died. Robin may not have been my favourite Bee Gee (surprisingly that was Maurice Gibb, a genuine guy without the arrogance of Barry), but he was important to their sound. I love some of the songs that he led too, but more importantly his death has signed the end of any possibility of the Bee Gees performing again. Although I am too young to be an 'original' Bee Gees fan, I have always regretted not seeing them when I had the chance around the 80's and especially in 1991. I was too easily swayed off target by my friends and following the cool groups of the day, that mainly no longer exist......this is a tragedy! (no pun intended.....ok maybe just a small one) So here is my favourite band singing my favourite ballad. (used a year later as the first dance at our wedding) Enjoy!

How do you pronounce the name Maurice? As an North American, I said "Moe-REESE". Yet my Southern Englander wife says is "MARR-iss".
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sound.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful is exactly right - I wallow in its yummy loveliness! (sorry maybe a little OTT)
ReplyDeleteMaurice is usually said as if it is spelt Morris. When I hear Barry Gibb refer to his brother there is no stretching out the first vowel. Its much simpler and shorter Mo-ris (the Mo is isnt Moe but a very english clipped sound that comes from nearer the throat opening your throat sound wider - don't drag out the sound its very short)
At least thats my opinion, even if it does sound ridiculous.
